~* my updated prim kitchen*~

This is my kitchen when we moved in here in September 2003. I knew when I bought this house that my kitchen was going to be the heart of my house, but that it was going to take a lot of work to get it where I wanted.
In 2010 I painted my cabinets again (I had painted them a colonial blue) this country white. I liked it well enough but to be honest, it was a pain to keep clean, especially around the knobs. Hand prints were always showing up on the doors.
So a few years ago I painted my hutch this brick red (it's actual name is paprika) and I loved it a lot. I had gone from white to red and felt it really fit in well with my decor.
So I decided that I would paint my cabinets the same red. I really love the way it came out. And we replaced the ceiling fixture as well and I love that so much more than the other brass one. It had a paint treatment to make the brass look like a green/blue patina. It was a gorgeous light, just not primitive enough looking for me.
So now it is done. (I only wish I could remove that ugly linoleum floor, but that is just not a project I want to tackle) And I really couldn't be happier with the results.

Have a great day!

`* more pennies *~

So I have been making a few penny rugs lately. A couple penny rug mats, some window sill scarfs, some bookmarks.... I've just been looking for reasons to make them. Then this idea came to me. I'd like to redo my mousepad (which had a photo in it) with a customized one.

And this was what I came up with. I actually love it! And since there is not a lot of pennies piled on top on one another it is pretty smooth. (I wish the photos would rotate, they are right on my computer!) I think I will make this a theme in my home office.

Have a great day!

~* Snow day *~

So we've had a couple snow days lately. I don't mind, really, I only work 2 mornings a week and so I don't miss a lot of work if I can't make it. But I do worry about my DH and his hour long drive to and from work. So far he was been lucky and made the trip in the snow with no events.
But these days do give me a chance to get some crafts done. I had a penny rug runner that had some damage on the ends, so I took the time yesterday to take it apart and re-work it. I cut it down, replaced the hearts in a new pattern, and added the tongues all the way around. I love the way it turned out and love it on my noodle board.
I also took the opportunity to make some penny rug bookmarks. I like getting my Christmas crafts/gifts done early in the year so I am sure to get everyone done in time. These were easy and quick and I love how they turned out.
Since I fill the gift bags with all sorts of little homemade gifts, these will be a perfect addition to the bags.

I have a few more penny rug crafts that I will be working on... Just love the look of them.

Have a great day!
