~*a little stitchery*~

Inspired by Leslie once again I decided to do a little stitching. I found this adorable pattern and decided to take a break from making yoyos and make something a little different. I printed this pattern on fabric (my first time printing from the computer on fabric0 YAY!!!) and then took a LONG time trying to find my hoops. It seems Krista needed the smaller ones more than I did and then when she moved out did not return them! I clearly am not doing this to the extent that Leslie did, they are not individual, they are not painted and all together this will only be a 5x7 picture when complete, but I thought it would be a nice change and something neat to try. I have done a lot of cross stitch, but nothing like this before, so it will be interesting how it will turn out.
Have a great day!!!

~*Whatcha' workin' on Wednesday*~

Well, first I had a bushel of tomatoes and my parents are on their way home from Arkansas after visiting my Aunt so I made a batch of homemade sauce and told them to stop for spaghetti on their way home so they don't have to worry about dinner. They were very thankful and I know they will be tired and hungry. I will whip up some homemade bread later today to go with dinner.
Next I am making about 100 yoyos for a new item to go in the shop. I bet you can tell by the colors it is gonna be Christmas themed!? I love to make these while I watch TV (especially while watching the BoSox!!!) so it is not too bad, but when I have so make so many it gets to be tiresome!!!
I am thinking of hosting a yoyo swap. Not one for this project, but for something different. Would anyone be interested? Leave me a comment if you are. I was thinking I would create something with all the yoyos and then have a giveaway for the finished item. What do you all think?
Ok, gotta get busy! Have a great day!!!

~* a shop opening*~

Ok, so I took the big plunge and opened an online Etsy shop today. I only have a few things listed so far. I will get going, you know how busy I am, but I want to commit to this, as this is really something I want to do... so visit, pass the word on... and thanks for all your encouragement!!!!

~* a press conference*~

I was invited to a press conference this morning at our Police department. It seems that our city was awarded a grant to get more police officers. This is big considering that there were only 62 municipalities across the entire country that got this grant. This is our Congressman Joe Courtney. He was instrumental in helping us get this grant. I am very proud of him and our police department and our little city that we were chosen!!!
Have a great Saturday!

~*more stuff*~

So I spent some time today packaging up my Fall fixins recipe and making some more candle wreaths for when I open shop. I am really having a good time coming up with ideas and bringing them to fruition. More so than when I just craft for myself, since I usually only make what I need or like, and don't really experiment a lot, now I am trying all kinds of new things. Not to mention the smell here is incredible. Now if I could just shake this darn cold that I thought was allergies, but now I am convinced in a fall cold :( !!!
Have a great one!

~* new shop stuff*~

So I am still working on stuff for my upcoming online shop. What do you all think of these rag candle wreaths??? I love them so much I am thinking of making them for the lights on the diningroom chandelier!
And here is one of my heart in hand ornies finished. Of course, the homespun can be different colors. They smell so yummy dipped in all those spices.
Well, that is what I am up to today, plus I have 2 meetings tonight, plus my allergies are acting up (I get double hit- spring and fall :( ).
Hope you are all having a great day!

~*sharing something nice*~

As I told you all on Friday, I was invited to a 9/11 memorial that I took pictures at, and then a friend put them in a slide show and emailed it to me. I thought I would share the slide show with you all. Enjoy!

~*Whatcha workin' on Wednesday*~

It's time for Leslie's WWW again. I have been quite busy this week really. First, I have been continuing to work on my K9 challenge. If you have not seen my video, please take a look here, and if anyone is interested in donating, please let me know.

I am continuing to work on my inventory for my online shop. This week I made a batch of Fall fixins and some heart in hand ornies. They still have to be waxed dipped and homespun added. The smell in my home has been wonderful lately with all this stuff going on.
Have a great day!

~*after much ado*~

After a lot of headache and work, here is my interview about my challenge. Sorry about the writing across the video, but I had a really hard time finding a program to convert the DVD to something I could save on my computer. I think I did ok getting it to play!

Updated: my son (tech support) fixed my program so that I am not using the trial version. So I fixed the video and reloaded it.

~*my anniversary gifts*~

So my dear husband gave this cute Build-a-Bear with a sox uniform on. He is so adorable, isn't he? I didn't even notice at the bottom of the box there was something wrapped in tissue paper. Do you see it there? It is a new flash for my camera. I was wanting one, since all I had was the pop up one that came with the camera, and I wanted to shoot more without flash glare... and he got it for me. What a sweet guy, huh? Anyway, we had a lovely late lunch/early dinner and the sox won. Great day all around. Hope you all had a lovely weekend... now it's time to get into the weekday mode!

~*happy 18th anniversary babe!*~

Look at those young kids! Can you believe that was us 20 years ago. Today is our 18th wedding anniversary. Of course it is raining out. It has been raining for 3 days now. Friday we went to the FD vs. PD softball game that was called after 3 hitters due to rain and an injury. Then everyone went to Hanafin's Irish Pub for steaks and brews!
We're gonna go for a nice lunch together today. Even if we get drenched!!!
Have a great Sunday!!!

~* remembering 9/11 *~

I was invited to a ceremony put on by the Fire Department yesterday to remember September 11th.
It was moving and brought me to tears on several occassions.
The day was beautiful, the weather was perfect, but the occassion was one that just remembering was a sad one.
I take time out on a regular basis to thank my local fire and police departments, but I want to take this time to remind you all to make sure you know that your public safety officials are there every day to protect you, give them thanks when you can!

~*what a beautiful day*~

It is a beautiful day today. The air is crisp like fall. I have an apple candle burning and it makes it smell like apple pies in my house. It makes me feel like baking. I have a few pumpkins that I grew that will turn into puree that may become pies, bread, cookies, etc. I feel like a big fall dinner. I love the fall. Of course, we have storms again in the forecast so this beautiful weather will not last long. But in the meantime, I will enjoy how nice it feels.
I got my tickets for Nikon school. My brother and I are going. I have wanted to take a photography class ever since I got my D40 and since my brother just got a new Nikon we decided that we would like to take the Nikon class together. They put out their new schedule and Connecticut's classes were November 1st and 2nd, so we are going!!! Yay!!! Can't wait to learn all the neat stuff my camera can do, I only know a small percentage of what it does, and that is a lot.
Well, another busy day ahead of me....
Have a great one!

~*growing old together*~

If you have been following the little ticker at the bottom of my blog you know that Dan and I have an anniversary coming up on the 14th.

This is a picture of us from 1988. Oh my goodness, look how young we were.

This was a commissioning event for the submarine my husband was on. That is why we are so dressed up (well, he is in dress uniform, I am dressed up!).

I was hoping to go somewhere this weekend for our anniversary but it looks like the weather is not going to cooperate... we are expecting a storm! Drat! Oh, well, maybe dinner and a movie.
This picture is from the day cruise we went on this summer.

~*Whatcha workin on Wednesday only on Thursday because my life is soooo busy*~

Ok, so I have been wanting to take the plunge and open/start my own Etsy shop for some time now. I love crafting and enjoy when people love my crafts, but actually opening a physical store is just not a possibility with my busy schedule. I really admire those of you who have Etsy shops and have window shopped them many times. I decided that instead of making all these things for only myself, why not just take the plunge!!! So I am going to be opening my own shop in the very near future.
So this last week I spent some time mixing up a batch of my prim bowl fixins'. The smell in my house is incredible!!! I thought I would mix up a big batch and start getting some of my inventory up in stock so I can get going with a bang!
But I am having trouble with just what to call my Etsy shop! If you have just the right name, leave me a comment. You all have seen pretty much all the stuff I make here on my blog (you can always take a trip back in time if you need to refresh your memory). I have some new stuff kicking around in my brain that I will debut on the shop site...but you get the idea what it will be like. If I pick your name and I really like it I may even send you a bag of this delicious smelling stuff!!!
Again, I am off on another mission for the Beautification Committee for the city this morning. Hopefully, when I get home I will have time to get my interview off the VCR tape and onto a CD so I can post it here.
Have a great day!!!

~*first day of school*~

Ok, first day of school here at our house. Now, I should be telling you about my high school senior, how this is the start of his last year of high school, and how he has a load of easy classes, senior project, yearbook, graduation, etc... but instead this is my college freshman.... yep, that's right. My little baby, my 17 yo is starting college today. You see, he only needed 1 credit to graduate and so when we met with the principle and guidance councilor to work out his schedule, the principle suggested that he do the early entry program at our local community college and that would count toward his single credit for early graduation for high school and he would also be getting college credits. So, off he DROVE today to college. I missed the whole preparation time, the year I would normally have to prepare myself for my last child going to college, the cutting of the apron strings... I had to fast forward to my little baby going to college at 17, a whole year early. And even though I know he is more than capable of handling the work, he is having a little difficulty with his life happening so fast and today he was a bit more than nervous. New sneakers and some new notebooks, and off he went. He will have a full day today with 2 classes and a lab so he won't be home till almost 4 pm.... oh, mama is worrying about her little bird today! So, my baby bird has started his first flight out of the nest. Say a little prayer for him today.
Have a great day!

~*when will life slow down*~

Ok, so I was able to get my interview off my DVR and onto a VCR tape and now I am trying to convert that to a CD. Technology!!! I tried to get the info from the station but they wanted $150. Can you believe that...it is for a fundraiser!!! So, I get working on doing it myself.

On a sweeter note~

Sandy from ***For the LOVE of Prims*** and Siri from Gone Country in Bayport have both given me this excellent award which I am just so excited to receive!!!

Here are the rules for the award:
1. The winner can put the logo on her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate at least 7 other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of those you’ve nominated.
I'd like to nominate:

Libby from -A Simple Girl-

JoAnne from The Carter Clan

and that was the hardest 7 choices to make, since a lot of my regular blogs have already gotten this award, and I wanted to give it to some new very deserving blogs that I visit!!!

Here is my chicken feeder light that I finished after drying those cranberries (they take sooooooo long to dry!) and adding the homespun, plus the pumpkin we grew. Thanks for the inspiration Leslie!

Well, now that September is here I am getting ready for fall, my favorite season...

I hope you all have a wonderful day!
