~*spring cleaning*~

I spent the day yesterday spring cleaning the master bedroom. It was dusty! It took so long to vacuum all the dust from around the room. It was really bad. I had to wait for Dan to get home to clean off his dresser because he is a pack rat and saves every little scrap of paper and I wouldn't know what was garbage and what he needed to save. So he cleaned off his dresser and an added bonus he cleaned out his closet and then I could finish dusting this morning. Now the master bedrom is done. I am thinking of re-doing the wallpaper because I am really not happy with the way it came out, but that will have to wait since we have other projects going on now.
I made this cabinet from an old window I found in the previous house we lived in. It holds my quilts and linens.

~*a sign*~

I got this sign a few weeks back at Christmas Tree Shop for only $1.99. Can't beat a great deal like that and I don't have to make it myself. I have made my own signs before. I don't mind the work, but for 2 bucks why? They had a few more, but this one seems to fit nicely with my color scheme and my feelings. I love the crackling on it. I have these great moldings above my doorways and I love to put signs and such on them. I had some snowmen, but when Dan collected them he got the few that I kept up there all year. I try to keep a couple out all year, well, because I LOVE THEM!!!

~*repotted*~

I had to re-pot my Christmas cactus today. It hasn't bloomed in awhile. It used to bloom twice a year, Christmas and Easter, but I think it was too pot bound. They like to be somewhat pot bound but I think it wasn't happy in the too small pot. So I used this cute flower pot I had. I hope I start to get flowers again this year. It has two different color flowers too. It has fuchsia pink colored ones and a salmon colored ones. I must have taken clips from two different peoples plants as that is how I get most of my house plants, but since I have had this one for such a long time, I can't remember who or where it came from.
I spent a good half hour today just shredding junk mail. Don't you hate that? I think it is worse than ever! And you have to be so careful because even the envelope has your name and address on it, not just through the little clear window anymore. Plus you have to check each piece of paper inside the envelope as they are printing your name on those as well. I do like the idea of sending junk mail back to the sender in their self addressed stamped envelopes (making sure I have nothing with my name and address on it inside the envelope of course!) and sending a clear message about receiving junk mail and how infuriating it really is... I wonder if American Express is interested in getting a credit card from Chase? I should not have to take so much of my time to shred mail I didn't ask to receive!!!
Ok, off the soapbox now!

~*red heart shelf*~

I found this shelf at the Goodwill, it was missing a peg and the finish was dark and worn, so I replaced the peg (I have a box of about 100 shaker pegs) and painted it this deep barn red and I love it now. Of course I have to have some snowmen even when it is not winter, so this cute tile is hanging on it. The color matches the border and the berries of the wallpaper border. I didn't even plan that! LOL!

~*painted daffodil*~

I noticed this flower the other day and I found it odd. I didn't plant any colored daffodils and so I can't imagine where this came from. I showed it to Dan and told him I thought someone spray painted it, but he said no. If you run your fingers over the petals you can feel no paint or imperfections of any kind to make you believe that there is any paint on it, but it is so odd looking. It doesn't even have red all over it or on every petal...and there is only 1 daffodil in the whole garden that came out like this! Odd!

~*workshop project*~

I made this adorable greeting card yesterday at workshop. Actually we made 14 of them, but this one was my favorite and I brought it home to photograph it. I think it is the cutest thing. It is blank on the inside so it could be used for any occasion and if you change up the yo-yos and buttons you could make them for Christmas, fall and Valentine's day. You know me tho, I am a huge fan of blue, so I made this one of all blues! I printed the stems on cardstock from the computer, then cut the cards, trimmed the edges and VOILA!!! Aren't they adorable? I hope they sell, we are making matching gift tags, too.

~*blessed*~

Today I am feeling blessed. Not because something special or spectacular happened, but because nothing in particular happened. I was ready some of my blog friends posts today and I was just feeling very blessed with what I have in my life. My family and friends, I have a nice home, I have nice cars, I have a nice life. My husband works hard and provides a good life for us. We weren't always this lucky, and I can really appreciate what we have now because we were not always in the place we are now. And even though living with teenagers is really a challenge on a daily basis, I would not change what I have for any thing. I could use a few less days of "teenagerness" but I know those are temporary and some day I will be friends with my kids and not have to do so much parenting! But for now that is my most important and difficult job. So today I feel blessed! And tired. But mostly blessed.

~*some flowers from around my yard*~

Daffodils in front of the stepping stone my daughter made me.
Against the front of the house.
Some mini daffs.
Some sweet smelling hyacinths.

Some different varieties together.
It seems to finally feel like Spring has started. The bulbs are starting to bloom although not in unison. And the tulips are just starting to pop their heads out of the ground. But at least the days are starting to get warmer. Today is supposed to be 50 and later this week it is supposed to get in the upper 50s. This is a big change from the cold and wet temperatures we have been having to endure. I hope this is the start of good things.

~*I'm gonna be a cop*~

Ok, not really. But I am in the Citizen's Police Academy and last night was our first class. It went well. I think it is going to be really interesting to see what the police really do in my city. I got a free sweat shirt and was volunteered to be the class photographer, which as you all know is right up my alley!!! The class is 10 weeks long and we will be doing a Ride Along too. Ok, now, I don't know how fun that is really gonna be!!!
On another note, I thought I would show you the progress of my bracelet so far. I got a red glass bead for Valentines Day! Yay! Of course you know what is on my list for Mother's Day and my birthday, both next month!

I cannot believe it but I don't have any meetings tonight, and tomorrow either. Wow, slow week! I do have to do some work for a committee, but I can do it from the comfort of my home, which is good since the weather has still not decided to act like Spring and get warm! And they are predicting more rain for the weekend! Great. Well, that seems to be it for me today, I am still trying to kick the sniffles I have going on. Dang Spring where are you???

~*I'm a blue girl*~

You Are A Blue Girl
Relationships and feelings are the most important things to you.
You are empathetic and accepting - and good at avoiding conflict.
If someone close to you is in pain, it makes you hurt as well.
You try to heal the ones you love with your kind and open heart.

~*It's that time of year again!*~

The sox tonight at Oakland. The game is on far too late for me to watch, but I will be silently cheering for them in my sleep!!!
