~*I don't wanna do it anymore!!!*~

Ok, so Matthew's wisdom teeth are gone. It was hell. The waiting is the worst. I am sure he doesn't think so, but as a mom, that waiting was pure hell. And since I knew what he was going through and I knew what he was in for when he was finished... it was just the worst thing a parent can go through. He came out of the room and he was white and shaking... it took longer than expected and I had to pick up yet another prescription afterwards for him, they added an antibiotic because of the time it took. So even though I had run down to the pharmacy while he was in there, I had to stop for still another script. Luckily I had them call it in to my local pharmacy and by the time I got there it was almost finished being filled. I brought him home and tried to put him to bed but he was fighting it all the way. I finally got some cream of wheat into him so I could give him his pills and finally got him into bed. Even though he told me he was NOT going to sleep, he wasn't the least bit tired, he slept for most of the afternoon. Many many milkshakes later, he went to bed with another pill and ice packs. I had to wake him this morning at 6 to give him another pill, and he is still sleeping now at 9am. Thank goodness. I have to run out to a Dr's appointment myself this morning, and pick up some more ice cream for milkshakes. He is so swollen and I know he feels bad!!! Sorry no pictures from yesterday, I thought about it, then thought better of it.
This picture is of him opening his GPS he got for Christmas. He was a little surprised. He kept asking to use mine and I kept saying he couldn't... he wasn't happy about that, but now he has his own. Well, I must get showered and ready to leave.... it is going to be another long stressful day I am sure!
Have a great day!

~*twas the night after Christmas*~

Dan and I went out with my brother Randy and his wife Sandra to our local Irish pub- Hanifan's- for a few drinks and some quality time spent together. We had a great time, it was fun to be out without the kids (we get to frequently, they have little ones, so they don't get to do that often). My favorite bartender, Liam, made me awesome blueberry martinis. Since they live in the greater DC area, we don't see them often, except around the holidays. I asked Liam to take some pictures for me. He did and I got these great shot of the four of us...
...since I gave my mom a digital photo frame for Christmas, maybe she might want to add these.
Have a great day!

~*joy to the world*~

Now that the holiday is over I have all this cleaning to do. Christmas was lovely. Breakfast was yummy! Dan got me some wonderful gifts. I think everyone was happy.
The cousins were all here. They are so cute, but I am happy that my children are older, I must say, I just don't have the patience that I used to have, and all the noise and running around was making me crazy. I like it quiet and calm now. It is always good to see them, and I love them a lot, but you get used to things a certain way and now I am used to it with grown kids and that is good!
Now it is time to prepare for the new year. I am not making any unreasonable resolutions that I don't keep any ways. I like to set a goal for the year. This year I plan to run for City Council, so with any luck that is what I will be doing this year. That is going to take up a lot of time, as well as my K9 challenge and my committees that I am on. So what are your goals or plans for the upcoming year?
Have a great day!

~*hark! the herald angels sing*~

Ok, so 2 days left till Christmas. I just finished wrapping the last of the gifts. I put the pictures on my mom's digital photo frame (she doesn't read my blog, she doesn't really go on the internet so I am safe saying what we got her!), I got Matthew registered for his classes at 2 local colleges for the next semester....and I have my Christmas morning breakfast ingredients all done, now I just have to put them together. It is still pretty cold out today, and there may be another storm on the way in tomorrow. More snow for Christmas morning- YAY!!! More snowmen appearing around my home- it seems the snowman fairy has come to visit again... and he is sneaky! But I love him, I hope he knows how much I love him and all the special snowmen he leaves me around the house.
Ok, I am off the scrub the bathroom down again! Oh the joys of living with boys!
Have a great day!

~*in the meadow we can build a snowman*`

Here is a new snowman ornie that appeared magically on my tree. Each and every year when I put my snowman tree up new ornie appear on the tree... and this one arrived a few days ago. I just noticed him... isn't he a cutie? We have been running errands today, going to colleges and getting Matthew ready for the new semester, getting my nails done for Christmas. I have been so tired lately, I hope I am not coming down with something again, the last bug I had knocked me on my butt for weeks. Ok, I have to get some housework done. Oh, did I tell you that all my outgoing Christmas cards were stolen??? Yeah, how's that for the holiday spirit. A neighbor found a bunch of them ripped open down the street. Yeah, I am assuming the culprits didn't just rip open a few then mail the rest, so no one is getting Christmas cards from me this year! Nice, huh? I guess they were probably looking for cash in the cards, why else steal them and rip them all open? Well, I do believe that as the economy gets worse, people will be stealing more and more from even their neighbors. I think it is going to get far worse. But what can I do? They certainly didn't find any money in a bunch of Christmas cards!!!
Have a great day!

~*jack frost nipping at your nose*~

Snowing again today, it is so pretty, but makes for a messy commute anywhere. Not that I have to go anywhere today.

Every Christmas I host breakfast at my house. I like it. It is easy and fun and it all started when my kids were the only grandchildren and my parents didn't have anymore small children at home to watch dig in to unwrapping all the gifts from Santa. They and my younger brother would come to my house in their jammies at the crack of dawn (when the kids got up!) to watch them as they came out of their bedrooms to see what Santa had left them and started opening all their presents. It also made it possible for us to stay home later so they could play with all their new toys before we had to leave for Christmas dinner since everyone had such a big breakfast, dinner could be later in the day. As the years went on and my kids got older we were able to move breakfast back to a more reasonable time. Now we have a more brunch type meal at around 10am after morning Mass, where my mother plays bells. It also gives my brothers and their families time to open all their gifts. Each year we have hosted it I have made the same dishes. Mostly overnight dishes that I just have to pop in the oven in the morning and bake. And some bacon, sausage and such that I cook the night before till it is almost done and then throw in the oven to finish off and warm the next morning. There is nothing like a good hearty breakfast with your family on Christmas morning. I have really love this tradition that Dan and I started with our kids and my family.
This is my centerpiece this year. I love blue. My tablecloth is blue with sparkly snowflakes on it. The ornaments in the bowl are all different shades of blue with snowflakes. I also have some blue metallic candle sticks on either side of this. I love the way it looks this year. Simple but elegant.

The snowman at the end of my table is a new one Dan got me this year. He isn't going to stay there. He always surprises me with new snowmen, and this guy is now exception. He is a candle holder. I think he may go on a window sill, since I have those really deep (22 inch) window sills.

Have a great day!

~*the big snowstorm*~

So, we had a big snow storm here! Yay! I love the snow. I love being snowed in. I love the way the snow makes everything look and feel like it is new and fresh. I don't, however like the old dirty snow, or ice, so it either has to keep snowing and make it all fresh and white, or melt away and snow again. We have quite a few inches here. We are all snuggled up inside our warm home. It is supposed to snow again tomorrow. I only hope it snows on Christmas! That is the best!!!
I spent to day working down the street at our friend's restaurant... he needs some help while his partner is out of town. It is right at the end of our road so we walked there. I am soooo tired now.
Well, time for a good power nap!
Have a great day!

~*Dear Santa*~

Dear Santa,

I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited their doctor's office more than my own doctor, sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground. I was hoping you could spread my list out -- over several Christmases.

Since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles; and who knows when I'll find any more free time in the next 18 years, so now - -
***Here are my Christmas wishes***
*I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (-in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze; but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.
*I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.
*If you're hauling big-ticket items this year, I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music; a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals; and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.
*On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, 'Yes, Mommy' to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that will zip all the way up without the use of power tools.
*I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting, 'Don't eat in the living room' and 'Take your hands off your brother,' because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.
*If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.
*If you don't mind, I could also use a few miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely.

*It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.
Well, the buzzer on the dryer is ringing, and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his red crayon back. Have a safe trip Santa, and remember to leave your wet boots by the door, and come in and dry off, so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table, but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.

Yours always with love and appreciation,

P.S. One more thing. ..You can cancel all my requests, if you can keep my children 'young' enough to believe in Santa.

~*oh what a day*~

No oral surgery for Matt today, when we got there, the Dr. said he was wheezing and he could not get put under for the surgery, so he had to be rescheduled for the 29th. Oh, well. I came home, did some more cleaning that had been lacking since I had been so sick and washed my tablecloth and put my centerpiece together for Christmas. I got a few loads of laundry done and folded. I still have Christmas shopping to do... I told you I am sooooo far behind. Thank goodness Dan does my grocery shopping for my big holiday meals, I just make the lists. I should start wrapping what I do have... but I still have so much to catch up on. And on top of all that I have to take Matt to the Dr. tomorrow for his asthma, now!!! Oh well.
Have a great day.

~*Where have I been?*~

I know, I know I have been MIA. It all started the Saturday before Thanksgiving.... we were doing the Food Drive with the Police Department and it was bitterly cold out. I knew it was not good! The next day I felt crummy. The next day after that I was full out sick. The next 2 weeks I was in bed. Thank goodness my kids are older. I had already prepped pretty much all of my Thanksgiving meal, so all I had to do was put the turkey in the oven in the morning and I called my daughter over to make the rest of the food. We had a quiet dinner just the 4 of us. Then I went back to bed. That is where I stayed for many more days. It was all in my chest and it was awful! I would get exhausted walking downstairs then nap on the couch for hours just to get the strength to go back upstairs to bed. It was just the pits. And I had already committed to make 2 appearances for my K9 challenge that I went to burning up with fever. You know I will do anything for the dogs! But now I am so far behind... it sucks! I still have to Christmas shop and I am just now getting the decorating done, although I am not doing as full out as I usually do.
This is my Santa tree, it is in the TV room. It is kinda cute and has all my Santa decorations on it. Next year I will have to use a bigger tree as there are really too many ornies on this one.
This is my kitchen tree. I love all the ornies on this one and the lights and stuff. It has those lanterns and mason jars that go over the lights. LOVE IT!!! Plus it has my rag garland.
This is our main tree in the living room. It has all our family ornies, and all my son's ornies that he has been given and made since he was born. It also has the real lights and bubblers. It is where all our gifts go. I actually went to the tree farm sick because I was afraid we would not get a tree if we didn't go them because Dan was supposed to go out of town for work the following week but the trip was cancelled....oh, if only I knew I could have waited!!!
And finally this tree is in my dining room and it has all my snowmen ornies on it. This tree started because I love snowmen so much I thought I had enough ornies for a tree of snowmen...but when I bought this tree and decorated it, I actually didn't really have all that much, but Dan has filled it up. He doesn't give me the ornies, tho. He just puts them on the tree without telling me and I will go plug it in or walk in the dining room and sometimes I notice a new one and sometimes he makes these clue like statements that make me think he must have put one on it. Now there are ornies all over this tree including the back, but it is my most favorite tree in the house.
These pictures aren't the best, which is sad for me, but I wanted to get some pics up and post because I didn't want anyone thinking I was dead!

Oh, my son turned 18 on the 10th. We let him have a bunch of friends come to the pizza place down the street (thank goodness for teenagers!!!) and then tonight I had the family over for cake and ice cream. He took his final exam for his first semester of college today. It was a trying experience for all of us. Tomorrow he is having all four of his wisdom teeth removed. God help me!!!

My daughter broke up with her boyfriend and he moved out, so she has been in a state of semi depression. She has been stressing over affording the rent on her own, trying to get a 2nd job, etc that comes with a break-up. We were not big fans of her boyfriend but had accepted that they were together, now I think she can get on with her life and make smarter decisions, but she is not ready to hear that yet. I want her to know that a broken heart will mend but giving up who she is for someone who doesn't do the same and who doesn't respect her is not love. It is too soon. She is healing. I am seeing more of her now than I have the last 3 years. That is a good thing!

Ok, so as you can see, there has been a lot happening here, some good, a lot not so good. I need more time before Christmas, can someone arrange that for me? I haven't baked one cookie, I guess we won't have any this year, we will survive. I am still hosting Christmas morning breakfast here. I don't know what I am thinking. Dan is working a double the night/morning before. Yeah, we have lost our minds. I am sure I missed a lot on all my favorite blogs, sorry, I am sure it will take me a long time to catch up...at least till after the New Year. Speaking of which, I am not making any resolutions! I never keep them anyways!

I gotta go get some sleep, tomorrow is going to be an emotionally trying day.

Have a great day!
