I only wish the games weren't on so late, I could not make it to the end and had to check this morning to get the final score.... and we all know that something terrible could have happened in the final innings... so I was relieved to see that they HAD actually won!
***Keeping my fingers crossed for tonight***

One of my favorite houses in my town, they make it so cute from season to season!
Oh to be sailing.....they were just coming back to the docks when I caught them!
A little shop downtown with these beautiful flowers!
Just couldn't resist, they looked so majestic together!
And of course, the fort again with the change of foliage colors...still looking awesome! I will check it again next week!

But it wasn't always this way. I remember people smiling at each other on the streets as they passed each other, saying hello or good day or holding the door open for someone else, or saying please and thank-you!
The other day while EXITING a store a guy (I certainly cannot say gentleman!) squeezed in the out door while I was trying to go out it. Get it, I was in the middle of the door leaving and he had to come up and squeeze into the store...he couldn't even wait for me to get entirely out of the door, he HAD to go in through the out door while I was going out it. HOW RUDE!!!
Now you have all had the pleasure of experiencing my feelings on behavior in public, as far as children go. But this has to do with all behavior and just plain being polite! It doesn't cost anymore time, money or effort to be polite. As a matter of fact, I have heard that you use less muscles to smile than frown and that smiling in and of itself makes you live longer! Let's try it people...a little politeness goes a long way! I always say please and thank-you, even in the drive thru...I hold the door open for people and say "you're welcome" when they thank me (IF they do) and I give my seat up to an elderly or disabled person all the time. I can remember being hugely pregnant and standing while a man just sat and looked at me...and I make my kids give up their seats to an adult coming into a room. It is just basic courtesy and I cannot stand that as a society we have gotten so far removed from it. A proud moment for me came last week while walking into the principles office my son pulled the chair out for me.....it was so touching and reassuring that he is getting it!!! Way to go, son!!!!

Fort Griswold from across the river. In a week those trees are going to be in their prime. I will have to check back next week.
More of the fort.
And just in case you thought I was going to post without acknowledging the BoSox....caught sight of this bumper sticker and had to snap a picture.

I cannot stand them!!!

Like, say for instance...running water. Big one, but one that we just assume will be there (as long as we pay the bill). Really, you turn on the faucet and you expect that water will come out, and better yet, if you use the left one, warm/hot water will come out with little to no effort on our part.
Or how about cooking. Turn the dial and off we go. No getting wood, starting a fire, waiting till you have enough coals to get the stove up to temperature. And if you are lucky enough to have a microwave all it take to heat water to boiling is 2 minutes!
And cleaning...don't even get me started there. I could not live without my vacuum. I do it every day, and I have 2 (one for each floor) so I don't have to drag it up and down the stairs. And a washer/dryer combo. Just throw the clothes in with some soap and fabric softener all in the beginning and VIOLA- I have clean clothes. And should it not be good enough weather for drying on the line I can just throw them into the dryer.
