Happy Birthday to ME!!!

I know, it's not birthday cake. Well, I don't do birthday cake. Ever since I was a little girl I have had lemon meringue pie for my birthdays. And since my mother is busy today and cannot make me one (She makes the absolute best lemon meringue pie!!!) I decided to get one for myself. Ok, so it's just a picture of one, but since I cannot make pie crust to save my life, this is the best I can do and better have a picture of one that looks a delicious as the one my mom makes than attempt to make one or worse yet, to (dare I say it) buy one and be disappointed. So this is my birthday lemon meringue pie!!!!

Mother's Day and some good finds

Mother's Day was very nice. We went to dinner at Angelina's in Mansfield. It's one of my favorite restaurants. We had dinner with my parents and my brother Tim and his wife Ruth and their son Sam. My daughter gave me the candle holder above. I love blue glass and she knows me so well. Dan got me the batter bowl in my Pfaltzgraff Yorktowne pattern for my obsession, I mean collection! It was nice and relaxing and I thorougly enjoyed myself as well as having a meal for the next 2 days!!!
I found these lovely pieces at a local thrift shop and so, they must be added to the collection!!! I can't pass up a good find!!!

They say your home is your castle....

Here is my castle...and my flower gardens. We went with a new mulch this year...black! And I kinda like it. It really makes the gardens stand out. When the garden is is full bloom it will make a really great back drop to all the different colors of the flowers!!! I do really have to paint those basement doors! Our mason is coming back this year to do some more landscaping in the backyard, around the pool and to make a stone wall to terrace the yard a little, great platform for a gazeebo!!! I'll add some before, during and after pictures of the project as it gets going!
This weekend was spent preparing the vegetable garden! It is rather large and we have a lot of different plants going on back there, but there is nothing like running out to the garden for a fresh tomato or fresh herbs, and the corn last year was the best I have ever tasted (native New Englander, here!!!) even if I do say so myself!!

Happy May!!!!

The most important thing she’d learned over the years was that there was no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.” Jill Churchill
